Only A Fool Gnaws At Himself

Dr. Michael LaitmanThe Light that Reforms reacts even to the smallest effort and aspiration of a person. However, it does not react to the one who suffers and gnaws at himself as it is said: “A fool sits with his hands folded and eats himself up.” In this case, the Surrounding Light does not shine. You have to aspire to rise to the next degree at least to some extent as the Light acts according to this desire. This way you “switch on” this Light.

However, if you don’t have the desire to rise, there is nothing that the Light can clothe in. It shines, but there is no ground under it to work on. You constantly have to present it with a desire that you want to correct—to slightly open it. Then you will have something to capture the Light with, which always exists.
