Where’s My Place in Kabbalah?

Where\'s My Place in KabbalahThree questions I received on fitting ourselves into the the spiritual puzzle

Question: I am a bisexual man, and I always play the men’s role in my relationships with men. But in general, since I became interested in Kabbalah, I’ve lost almost all interest in both men and women. Can I study in a group?

My Answer: Please write to us describing how you view men in general when you are next to them for an extended period of time, when you study together, work together, travel together, drink together and hug each other, sing and dance together with men. What do you feel when men look at you and hug you? Once you respond, we will examine your situation further.

Question: I’ve never felt as bad as I do now. I want to change for the better, but the state I’ve been in for three days already is unbearable and horrible, ranging from the question “What’s all this for? Why do I live?” to “I don’t want to go on living.” I have Kabbalistic books, music, and lessons, and without them I wouldn’t be able to continue. But I don’t want my life to be based on the feeling that I’m being lowered into an abyss of my own dirt, and I’m trying to break out of it!

My Answer: There is nothing besides a person and the Creator - so turn to Him. Your appeal to the Creator will be more effective if you make actions of studying in a group and disseminating.

Question: Every soul is a piece of the general puzzle. Men collect their pieces together to form a Kli. When one person loses the connection and falls out of the general system, then there’s a “hole in the boat,” there’s no Light. This seems clear enough. But how does the female soul fit into this puzzle? I feel like I just don’t belong.

My Answer: This female feeling of being defective (not according to Freud, but according to Kabbalah) will accompany you (as well as all the men who are correcting their Malchut) throughout the entire path until the end of correction. You receive the Light from above through the global men’s group, the same way every man does. And just like the men, you insert your piece of the puzzle, your soul, into the common soul of Adam! You are the same as the men in every way, except for the fact that they attract the Light. The men (the male parts of the common soul) unwillingly accept your desires, and they go out to hunt and to work, in order to attract the Upper Light for everyone.

Take a Sniff and Become Like the Creator!

Take a Sniff and Become Like the Creator!(A Joyous) News Story: Trust Drug May Cure Social Phobia

“A nasal spray which increases our trust for strangers is showing promise as a treatment for social phobia, say scientists from Zurich University.

They found that people who inhaled the ‘love hormone’ oxytocin continued to trust strangers with their money - even after they were betrayed.

Brain scans showed the hormone lowered activity in the amygdala - a region which is overactive in social phobics.

Drug trials are under way and early signs are promising say the scientists.

Nicknamed the ‘cuddle chemical,’ oxytocin is a naturally produced hormone, which has been shown to play a role in social relations, maternal bonding, and also in sex.

Lead researcher Dr Thomas Baumgartner said: ‘We now know for the first time what exactly is going on in the brain when oxytocin increases trust.

We found that oxytocin has a very specific effect in social situations. It seems to diminish our fears.

Based on our results, we can now conclude that a lack of oxytocin is at least one of the causes for the fear experienced by social phobics.

‘We hope and indeed we expect that we can improve their sociability by administering oxytocin.’”

My Comment: Here we’ve been wondering how to change human nature so people would start trusting each other, being friends, and loving and caring for one another, but now all you have to do is take a sniff, and then you’re already like the Creator!

Why Are Men Going Off Sex?

Why Are Men Going Off Sex?News Story: Why Are Men Going Off Sex?

“Men are increasingly going off sex due to stress, depression and the inability to talk about their problems, experts have claimed.

A team at a relationship counselling service has reported a whopping 40 per cent increase in the number of lazy blokes, admitting that, despite being physically able to have sex, they don’t have any interest.

‘They tend to be men in their thirties, forties and fifties and married. It is a serious issue. It counts as a psychosexual dysfunction, rather than just a relationship problem, because these men haven’t simply gone off their partner but off sex altogether,’ a newspaper quoted Peter Bell of the organisation as saying.”

My Response: The feeling of emptiness, the lack of fulfillment from the Upper Source - even if only subconscious - leads to general depression and the suppression of all bodily desires. Lately this isn’t just a problem, but a universally acknowledged fact.

However, the study of Kabbalah brings about an outburst of all desires and growth of egoism, both on a widespread scale and individually. It is written, “since the destruction of the Temple, only those who work to become similar to the Creator have retained the true taste of copulation.” Mainly, this refers to spiritual copulation - Zivug de Haka’a with the Upper Light, but it also has results in our world. It is talking about people who are working on the intention to bestow…

Sex and Kabbalah

Sex and KabbalahA question I received in response to my post “Abortion – How Does Kabbalah View It?”: What does Kabbalah think of sex that’s not intended for reproduction?

My Answer: Kabbalah treats all expressions of egoism in our world simply as expressions of egoism, and we shouldn’t think about them. Instead, we should think about egoism’s essence – the intention “for one’s own sake.” If this intention was to become corrected and turned into the intention “for the sake of the Creator,” then all of our actions would become spiritual.

Horrible Manifestations of the Ever-Growing Egoism

Horrible Manifestations of the Ever-Growing EgoismA question I received: Newspapers are full of reports about a mother having sexual relations with her two sons, allegedly to spite her husband (read the story here). The 38 year old resident of Netivot, Israel was arrested on suspicion of having sexual relations with her two sons. She said that she did it to spite her husband, whom she is divorcing.

Lately we’ve been hearing about many cases of mothers raping their children. Why is this happening now, and with mothers? After all, a woman’s love for her children is the most natural, pure, real, and essential feeling! So what is making mothers abuse their children so cruelly?

My Answer: Egoism is assuming these horrible forms because we should have started correcting it on the mass scale a long time ago. The time of correction began with the Ari, and Baal Shem Tov also tried to achieve this by spreading Chassidut in Eastern Europe.

Egoism has grown beyond the boundaries of the natural, animate level, and is manifesting in a supernatural form, in order to force us to reject it and instead adopt bestowal and love. Unless we realize this and start correcting ourselves by studying Kabbalah (i.e. acquire a basic understanding of nature, life, and the world), then in the near future we will face even uglier manifestations of egoism, such that the world has never seen.

There’s No Sex Here!

There\'s No Sex Here!A question I received: What do you mean by saying that sex is the root of all our desires? What does Kabbalah have to say about everything that’s going on today surrounding sex, like pornography, prostitution, and so on?

My Answer: In Soviet times, there was a popular slogan that stated, “There’s no sex here!” It was meant to poke fun at people, because all pleasures are based on sex - that’s how nature has made us.

The reason for this is that in the spiritual world, sex represents a union of opposite desires with a mutual intention of pleasing one another. It’s when the soul receives for the sake of pleasing the Light, and the Light fulfills or pleases the soul. This union is called Zivug de Hakaa, an explosive union, where by means of an explosion the soul nullifies its egoistic use of egoism, and instead uses it to bestow or mate (Zivug). It does this to enable the birth of a new Partzuf - an act of fulfilling the Creator and uniting with Him. The way to tell whether an action is correct or not is to check whether a new Partzuf was born.

In relation to this, it’s written that after the destruction of the Temple, Kabbalists were the only people who could still enjoy sex. Why? It’s because they always develop greater desires as well as greater pleasures, but they do so in order to rise above them, that is, to receive for the sake of bestowal. There are many articles by different Kabbalists on this subject.

And I’ll tell you one more thing: Even on the lowest spiritual degree, a person is fulfilled billions times more than by anything he can experience in this world…

Legalized Public Gay Sex in Amsterdam Park - Another Step Toward Asking “What Is the Meaning of Life?”

Legalized Public Gay Sex in Amsterdam Park - Another Step Toward Asking “What Is the Meaning of Life?”News Story: Dutch to legalize gay sex in public park

New rules of conduct passed by Dutch council officials will permit gay sex in public areas but fine dog owners who let their pets off the leash in Amsterdam’s Vondelpark.

As for the rules: “Condoms must always be cleared away, it must never take place in the neighborhood of children’s playgrounds and the sex must be restricted to the evening and night-time,” said Alderman Paul van Grieken.

The new park rules have the blessing of the Dutch police, who have urged all Dutch parks to follow Amsterdam’s lead.

But Amsterdam’s dog owners are less impressed. The new park code of conduct will set out stiff fines for dogs that are allowed to run around the Vondelpark off the leash.

One dog owner protested: “As long as the park has existed, we’ve been allowed to let our dogs run freely. It’s outrageous that we will be punished from now on but public sex won’t. If they can drop their trousers, why can’t I let my dog loose?”

My Response: In its final stage of evolution, egoism is offering all kinds of possibilities to fulfill any desire, and it’s digging its own grave in the process. Egoism is showing us that our will to receive is impossible to satisfy. Instead of giving us a feeling of satisfaction, egoism is causing us increasing pain and feelings of emptiness. Thus, against our will, we are realizing that the same ego which constantly drives our pursuit for new pleasures is actually our enemy. As such, we start hating our egoism, and look for ways to limit it and free ourselves from it. Feeling empty (depression, drugs, divorce and suicide) brings about the question “What is the meaning of life?” and in our search for its answer, we discover Kabbalah.

Love and Hunger Rule the World

Love and Hunger Rule the WorldKabbalah divides everything in existence into pleasure and the desire to receive that pleasure. Nothing else exists in nature. Objects in nature consist only of the desire to receive pleasure and its fulfillment, and they differ only by the degree of their desire to receive pleasure.

The desire divides into the following levels:
1. Still
2. Vegetative
3. Animate
4. Human (Spiritual)

Desires 1-3 are desires to receive pleasure for oneself (at someone or something else’s expense). These desires are natural, i.e. nature gives them to us. When the body dies, the sensation of life disappears. Desire 4 is the desire to please others (and receive pleasure by doing so). Nature doesn’t give us such a desire. It appears under the influence of the Upper Force, which is attracted through the study of Kabbalah. Since this desire is independent of the body, whoever acquires it comes to feel his existence as eternal.

Everything in our world - including love - is determined by the egoistic desire to receive pleasure. Both humans and animals buy and exchange love, as with any other type of pleasure or fulfillment. This shows, yet again, that our desires stay within the limits of the animate level.

Monkeys also pay for sex. Michael Gumert (Nanyang Technological University, Singapore) discovered this fact while researching 50 macaques. On average, female macaques have intercourse 1.5 times per hour. But if a male grooms a female, that number increases to 3.5 times per hour. The macaques grooming is done by picking fleas off each other. If there are many females around, then the “cost” of sex drops - a male can “buy” a female for eight minutes of flea picking. If, however, there are few females, then the male has to groom her for sixteen minutes before she gives her consent. According to Ronald Noe of Strasburg University, the same kind of socio-sexual interaction also takes place universally among human beings.
