Video Conference with Canadian Television

Video Conference with Canadian TelevisionI had a video conference with two Toronto TV stations - one in Hebrew and one in Russian. I found that Israeli television outside of Israel is exactly that - “Israelis outside of Israel,” or in other words, the greatest and most primitive egoism in the world. There are many primitive egoists, but only theirs is both great and primitive at the same time.

Nevertheless, it appeared as if they too are starting to ask questions, have doubts, and feel desires “above the stomach.” Canada, Australia, and similar countries squeeze everything that’s human out of people, and all that remains is an animalistic aspiration for a full stomach and a peace of mind. You can see this with every person who enters that environment.

One’s environment determines one’s destiny - whether he will go through life worrying only about the comfort of his animate body, until it finally dies, or he will actually think about something besides this. By no means does Kabbalah encourage people to deprive themselves of anything or to suffer. It only explains that a society which eliminates a person’s questions about the meaning of life, turns him into an animal.

But to be frank, lately even the “bourgeois” are beginning to ask questions about the meaning of life. In the past they couldn’t even comprehend the possibility of someone asking such questions, and would look at anyone who spoke about it with a blank, dumbfounded gaze…

Lessons for Children Every Sunday

Lessons for Children Every SundayI have started teaching lessons for children around the world every Sunday, from 5:45pm to 6:45pm Israel time [Time Zone Converter].

Lessons are broadcast live on Kabbalah TV, with translation into English and Russian, and more languages in the future.

I’m inviting children from all around the world to join in and ask questions that I will answer live (ed. there is a question submission interface on Kabbalah TV, which gets communicated to Michael Laitman during the lesson).

Also on Kabbalah TV on Sundays:
* Before the children’s lesson, from 4:00pm to 5:30pm Israel time [Time Zone Converter], there is a broadcast of my weekly lesson for beginners (translated into English).
* After the children’s lesson, from 7:00pm until 8:00pm Israel time [Time Zone Converter], there is a broadcast of the weekly gathering of friends (Yeshivat Haverim).

International Kabbalah Congress in New YorkLast week, we held an International Kabbalah Congress in New York with five hundred people attending from twenty countries. One of the Congress’s main areas of progress was the launch of a new approach to dissemination in the English-speaking world. New Book - Shamati (I Heard)

Baal HaSulamFrom the book’s blurb:

Among all the texts and notes of Rabbi Baruch Shalom Halevi Ashlag (the Rabash), there was one special notebook he always carried. This notebook contained the transcripts of his conversations with his father, Rabbi Yehuda Leib Halevi Ashlag (Baal HaSulam), author of the Sulam (Ladder) commentary on The Book of Zohar and of many other works on Kabbalah.

Shamati (I Heard)

Not feeling well on the Jewish New Year in September 1991, the Rabash summoned his prime disciple and personal assistant, Michael Laitman, to his bedside and handed him that notebook. Its cover contained only one word, Shamati (I Heard). As he handed the notebook, he said to Laitman, “Take it and learn from it.” The following morning, he perished in his student’s arms, leaving him and many of his other disciples without guidance in this world.

Committed to Rabash’s legacy to disseminate the wisdom of Kabbalah, Laitman published the notebook just as it was written, thus retaining the text’s transforming powers. Among all the books of Kabbalah, Shamati is a unique and compelling composition whose power persists long after the reading is through.
