Yearning To Meet The Light

Dr. Michael LaitmanIt is written that we need to yearn to know what we are studying. To know is to connect, as it is written: “And Adam knew his wife Eve.” We want to discover, to establish connection with the forces and states that The Zohar talks about. We want to be in them.

We don’t know what they are in and of themselves, but we want to discover ourselves within them since they are the advanced states of our connection, of the formation of the general Kli (vessel or desire).

And then, out of the desire to connect to these forces and states, according to the measure of the collective aspiration, we discover the Light that Reforms. It comes closer to us to the extent that we yearn for it.

  1. I have a general question about yearning to study and also fearing God. If people don’t see the importance of studying something then there isn’t going to be a yearning for it. Yet, at the same time, it seems to me that if they could see the consequences of not studying they would yearn for it. And, if they don’t see the consequences of things in general, then they won’t fear God because they aren’t fearing any consequnces and have no awareness of them. How can a person fear God if he doesn’t study and isn’t aware of the consequences of things? Also, seems impossible to try to get someone to look at consequences when they would prefer to avoid them in general. If, in an extreme example here, I go up to a stranger who isn’t aware of consequences and doesn’t fear God and I start telling him that all his interactions in life have consequences, he isn’t going to want to listen because his life is comfortable the way it is for him. To him, why put in an effort to look at his own life as having something negative like a consequence when it wasn’t there before. To him, why threaten the peace of mind he already thinks he has?
